In episode eighteen of PodSpot, the unofficial UK HubSpot podcast, we bring you a conversation between Kerry Thompson of Karman Digital and Lisa Kelly of HubSpot. Together they discuss HubSpot portals and how you can get more out of them.
Kerry and Lisa start this conversation with an introduction to Lisa’s role as a Principal Channel Consultant with HubSpot. They cover an overview of what she does and how her role benefits both partners and end-clients.
From there they discuss what a healthy client portal looks like from HubSpot’s perspective. Kerry and Lisa explore what to look for when auditing your portal and how often you should perform an audit. Lisa reminds listeners to do this in the context of a business’ goals and their full tech stack. She then shares some of the key indicators that a business isn’t getting the full value of HubSpot and how those indicators can be interpreted.
Kerry goes on to ask about what businesses can do to make sure they receive the full value of their investment in HubSpot. Lisa suggests guiding questions specific to each Hub and asks listeners to start the process by reviewing their usage of properties within the CRM.

She also reminds agency partners to be sure that there is alignment between themselves and the client about how success will be measured.
As the episode begins to wind down, Kerry asks Lisa to give listeners her best advice for getting more out of HubSpot. Lisa replies that, within HubSpot, they use the analogy of HubSpot being like a gym: it has everything you need to succeed, but to get results, you need to use it regularly. She also explains that partner agencies are like ‘personal trainers’ for businesses that need a bespoke approach.
